Reception: The Menger Hotel

Time: Monday October 23, 2017 at 6pm

The Menger Hotel is a historic hotel located near River Walk and The Alamo in Downtown San Antonio. Rooted in the rich history of the town, during the 1850’s William Menger opened a brewery on the site of the battleground introducing beer to Texas. He and his wife expanded the place to a two-story hotel, after realizing that the guests of the brewery needed a place to sleep for the night. The hotel with its sophisticated architecture and glass-roofed Victorian lobby was an instant success at that time. The Menger hotel was expanded and renovated several times after its build and is now one of the most elegant and oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi, containing rare antique furniture, museum-quality paintings and historical artifacts. The reception will be on Monday after workshops, doctoral consortium and tutorials.
